The problem here is that although Project64 is completely free, Crossover is not.

SIXTYFORCE MARIO INSTALL

You can use "crossover" to install the windows program "Project 64" so that it will seemingly launch natively in OSX (or, if you're really handy with computers, use wine and a combination of the CX engines to do this for free). In the windows world, there is an emulator called Project64 that works great, because there are a bunch of continuously updated plugins available, that were made by the community (ie, a bunch of people instead of just one guy, like sixtyforce).

Since games were programmed in so many various ways, each game has to pretty much be made to work with the emulator, and the Sixtyforce developer hasn't made very many of them work.

SIXTYFORCE MARIO SOFTWARE

Most N64 emulators use what is called "High Level Emulation" which means they are not trying to simulate the N64 hardware, they are just doing their best to simulate with software libraries what the software is asking for. The sad truth is that what you're experiencing is a problem with the emulator. Playing Mario Party 2 on my brothers wall.

SIXTYFORCE MARIO UPDATE

Sixtyforce has not been updated in around 5 years, and although they still accept payments for it, they do not update it or really support it anymore. Does anyone have a registration code for the sixtyforce emulator Please. Even most of the games they list only have "good" compatibility, and not "great."

If you check sixtyforce's own compatibility list, you'll see how skimpy it really is. Turok 2 does not work (your character is sunk like 3 feet into the floor, all the time, and some sprites don't show up), Duke Nukem 3d does not work (everything shows up in black and white blocks), and a great number of other games have similar problems where they have wild graphics glitches, freeze, or don't launch at all etc. I'm registered, and I realized I needed to play Ken Griffey Jr's Slugfest for N64. I downloaded super mario 64, and I'm having a blast. The unfortunate truth is that compared to all the N64 emulators out for Windows, Project 64 is an awful emulator with very very low compatibility. I downloaded the most recent version of sixtyforce: the N64 emulator. I actually keep an n64 around with a collection of around 50 games because I love that system, so mostly thats what I play. OverClocked ReMix is a not-for-profit site that provides a ton of free music, which requires a ton of bandwidth and a pretty hefty web server.Emulators are finicky, and I sometimes use Project 64 because it is the only mac native N64 emulator around.
